SUBAHANALLAH!! I say this every year but... "Has'nt Ramadhan come so quickly?" :-) I pray that Allah makes Ramadhan a pleasurable expereience for all of us, a time when we can all better ourselves as Muslims and make permanant changes in our character for the better inshallah. Lets also remember that when we do iftar with lavish food, there will be those in this ummah that will be doing iftar with "muddy water and dirt"... please give without measure for the hungry & destitute.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Do not choose the Friday night among all other nights for standing in (Tahajjud) prayer, and do not choose Friday among all other days for Saum (fasting) except that one you have accustomed to.''

Jazak Allah Kharain for the post, and may Allah reward Sh.Tawfique for the reminders. Very informative lecture.

The speaker made a good job but there is a mistake in his sayings concerning the prayer of the night of the prophet Dawud (as), he used to sleep the first half of the night and not pray it as said in the video. Allah's Prophet (PBUH) said : "the most beloved prayer to Allah was the prayer of Dawud , who used to sleep the first half of the night, and pray for one third of it and again sleep for a sixth of it." (Sahih Al-Bukhari).

And allah knows best.

The Ramadan will be about 19.5 hours where i am living now. I searched for rules for fasting in such countries where the days are very long or short. I found the following opinions without any authentic reference. The options are suggested as below.

1. Fast according to the ramadan time of nearby country/city where there is a normal day/night. (It is not clear what is the length of a normal day/night)
2. Fast according to the time of Macca.
3. Don't live in such a country.

Someone please help!

I pray to Allah that we make it to Ramadan and pray that when my death comes, that's in the month of Ramadan.

Assalamu alaykum sister Asmaa :) I just found another video which has been posted a few hours ago where it is exactly explained whether it is ok to fast or not. Indeed it is ok and does not harm your baby. The video is on the same channel and is called: Questions and Answers - Issues Pertaining to Fasting and Ramadhan - Tawfique Chowdhury (It is around minute 4 where this topic is explained ;) )

come on, is not that hard.. i live now in uk, and i am not finding it hard to do ramadan,, i am working in very busy restaurant as chef, and is hot in there and i am working with food, and it is ok. By the way i am muslim only 4 years, and , subhanAllah, i found it easy for me - most muslims was telling me that it is so hard... well not for me, (hard was for me in the army). Alhamdulillah!
